唐代婁師德勸戒弟弟，當別人吐口水在臉上時，不要擦拭，讓它自己乾掉的故事。典出新唐書˙卷一○八˙婁師德傳。比喻逆來順受，寬容忍讓。宋˙陸游˙聞里中有鬥者作此示之詩：秋毫不能忍，平地尋干戈；唾面聽自乾，彼忿自消磨。亦用來罵人不知羞恥。
